Reflecting upon the last 12 months

The last 12 months have been interesting to say the least. A few reality checks made me question my career, personal accomplishments, friendships and what is important to me and what I value most.

It is also an out of body experience having annual leave in December, which kicked off today. I usually head overseas during the Northern Hemisphere’s Summer but not this time. My vacation has begun and I fly out of Sydney on Friday to my first stop at Disneyland in California, then onto London, Norway and I finish up in Finland before returning home.

During this time I will take a step back from my 9-5 job and spend some quality time with me, myself and I. I love travelling with friends and family but sometimes one has to be alone to find the answers they are looking for without others around. I have to start focusing on what I need and want and stop fussing over everyone else. It may sound selfish but for far too long I have put my dreams aside for others.

It has only been in the last 3 months that I have been inspired to get back into blogging with amazing support from my wonderful friend, Samantha. She recently took a chance on herself and her passion for photography and she has gone from strength to strength. She is apart of my tribe and she has been so helpful in letting me bounce ideas off her regarding my blogging journey. If she can take a chance on herself than I can take a chance on myself as well. I want to spend some quality time on this website and where I want to take it and set some serious goals for myself whilst I am travelling. I am researching some small business opportunities too for myself outside my normal work. I won’t quit my day job and will not quit daydreaming either.

I like to look over my goals, whether they be personal or for work, roughly every quarter. The new year is approaching and gives us all an opportunity to go back over where our success and failures have been, what worked and where can we improve. I have to work on my health and fitness, that is a priority. We have been smashed with bush fires these last few weeks and these past couple of days my asthma has been horrendous. I honestly thought I might end up in hospital last night. All my old ouchies are causing me grief too, such as my lower back where I have a bulging disc.

Spending a chunk of time on flights will be a great opportunity to catch up on my reading and personal education and brain dump all my ideas into one of my many notebooks. No emails, no phone calls, no distractions. Just my thoughts. Catching up on much needed sleep would be a bonus too.

Go check out Sam’s website at to see her latest photographs from recent concerts.
