Last minute shopping at Santa Claus Village

Most of our tour group members left today to either head home or travel to their next destination. It was a really great group I got to spend the week with and there were a lot of laughs along the way.

After our goodbyes I had to dash out to Santa Claus Village to post some cards and grab some last minute gifts before the bulk of the tourists arrived. I ran into a few other Aussies who got there early like I did and the information centre and shops in line with it opened early for us. The shops have good quality souvenirs. A lot more up market than you find on a London street or at the airport. I got my family a little gift from the Village and beelined for the coffee shop which was also serving early. The shuttles from Roveniemi’s city centre run to and from the Village quiet frequently so I didn’t have to wait long at all.

I spent the afternoon wandering around the Science Musuem with my friend Joan and we also checked out the local area. I had woken up today with a bit of a sore throat from the cold so I am about to have a little nap before we meet for dinner. I want to see if I can extend use of my hotel room as I leave late tomorrow night and wouldn’t mind chilling out in my room to recover from what has been a fantastic trip away.

I’m really looking forward to going home. Hopefully the heat isnt too much of a shock to the system.
